About
Control MoCo Spending (CMS) was formed to limit the County spending to the prior year's Consumer Price Index (CPI). The CPI is a measure of inflation, specifically focusing on the prices that consumers pay for goods and services. It tracks changes in the cost of consumer items, representing everyday purchases like food, housing, and transportation.
The County has a history of excessive spending relative to our metropolitan neighbors, and raising taxes in all forms. We currently find ourselves with yet another round of tax increases occurring in under two years.
The purpose of this ballot petition is to secure enough signatures to get the question on the ballot for the 2026 election.
Objective
We want to change the County Charter to ensure that the Montgomery County Executive and County Council cannot increase spending above the prior year CPI.
How to get the job done
We were able to secure over 10,000 signatures to get term limits on the ballot in November 2026. We CAN do it again!
These are the draft petitions for testing the website. Do not use them pending final approval.
Important:
“Please note that each petition sheet MUST be printed
on the front and back, with the signing area on one side and the petition text on the
back. Single-sided sheets will be thrown out and the signatures will not be counted.
Please chip in to help us buy ads and yard signs to get the word out about how we can limit county spending.
